Crockett Johnson was a nom de plume of cartoonist and children's book illustrator David Johnson Liesk (1906—1975). His works include a comic strip Barnaby and the children's book Harold and the Purple Crayon. Johnsin likewise collaborated on toddlers's books by owning his married woman, Ruth Krauss.
